About Casablanca

Why travellers come to Casablanca

Casablanca is Morocco's largest city, its economic engine and the main international gateway via Mohammed V Airport (CMN). With a population of over 4 million, Casablanca runs at a different rhythm than the imperial cities — modern, fast, business-focused, and architecturally fascinating thanks to its remarkable concentration of 1920s–40s Art Deco and Mauresque buildings, the legacy of the French protectorate.

The city's must-see landmark is the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa and the seventh largest in the world. Completed in 1993, it features a 210-metre minaret — the world's tallest religious structure — and a partly glass floor cantilevered over the Atlantic. It is one of the very few Moroccan mosques that non-Muslims can visit, with guided tours every day except Friday morning.

Beyond the mosque, visitors explore the Habous Quarter (a 1920s 'new medina' designed in traditional Moorish style), the Art Deco downtown around Place Mohammed V and Boulevard Mohammed V, the United Nations Square, and the lively Corniche and Ain Diab seafront with its beach clubs, restaurants and bars. Morocco Mall, one of Africa's largest shopping centres, sits at the southern end of the Corniche.

Casablanca is rarely a leisure destination on its own, but it is the obligatory entry point for many Morocco itineraries — Mohammed V Airport handles the most flights, and the high-speed Al Boraq train links Casablanca to Tangier in just over 2 hours. Lets Get Tours provides Casablanca airport transfers 24/7 to any city hotel, plus fixed-price intercity transfers to Rabat (1h30), Marrakech (3h30 via the A3 motorway), Fes and Tangier. We also offer half-day Casablanca city tours covering the Hassan II Mosque, Habous, the Royal Palace exterior and the Corniche.
