The Ourika Valley is the easiest and most popular day trip from Marrakech, a 30-km drive south-east into the High Atlas foothills along the Ourika River. The valley climbs gently from 1,000 m at the entrance to 1,500 m at Setti Fatma — its main village — and offers cooler temperatures, lush vegetation and a clear river that makes a welcome contrast to the dry plains around Marrakech.

Along the road, travellers can stop at the Berber Wednesday market in Tnine Ourika, at saffron and argan cooperatives, at a traditional Berber pharmacy, and at the Nectarôme aromatic gardens. The valley's main attraction is the chain of seven small waterfalls behind Setti Fatma, reached by a 30–45 minute rocky walk above the village. Most full-day trips include a riverside lunch in one of the many small restaurants with tables literally set up in the river.

Ourika is also a popular escape in winter — when the upper part of the valley occasionally gets snow — and in summer, when Marrakech temperatures climb above 40 °C and the valley stays 5–10 °C cooler. The drive is short, paved, and easy in any vehicle.
